Air New Zealand Cup

Remember the days before professional rugby, when the hard men of NZ rugby would have to race home after the game to deliver a calf or put out a scrub fire in the back block.
Well those glorious days are well and truely gone. These days the the players are more likely to race off to a photoshoot after the game.
This year Tui are proudly backing all of the fun things still left in the game of footy. These are the Grass Roots ideals that us footy fans love & get to the game for.
Let us know the things that are particular to your province that you are proud of and go into the draw to
win 10 crates of Tui every week!

Week 1 -Tammi Topi - Proudly Backing
"Stags. Eating Jimmys pies in the stands. Our shithouse weather we often get that makes for great sliding across the line! Some funny bugger adding an 'IS' on the end of our local park called 'The Roaring Pen'. The fact that even though we are often no major threat year to year we still have a bunch of down to earth hard blokes not toffy poofs."
Week 2 -Gordon Crombie - Proudly Backing
"Southland, The real family atmosphere that Southland is so rightly proud of. this tradition dates back to when the first rugby game was played in Southland between teams made up of Enis and his first cousins. Ever since then inbreeding has resulted in Southland being able to field teams solely made up of family members. this has made it hard for the opposition to mark up on the correct opponent as all Southland rugby players now look the same. The opposition winger marks who he thinks is his opposite winger only to discover that the real winger is being marked by a fat-boy prop. This makes our backline moves really successful. It gives real meaning to the call 'come on bro.' the only exception to the rule has been Jeff 'Goldie' Wilson who of course is not of this earth. As far as I am aware; outside of say Hawera and Picton (and they don't have provincial teams) has this real family tradition resulting from real inbreeding over many many years."
Week 3 -Brendan John Hurley - Proudly Backing
"Taranaki, I support the amber n' blacks because they are a team after my own heart. Taranaki as a region has a lot to be proud about and as a uni student at Victoria we get a lot of crap for been hillbillies and generally backward, hell half the Jaffas Ive met can't even place us on the map. It makes me proud to see Taranaki on a national level (and maybe soon Super 15 level!!!) match it with the big boys and theres nothing better than sinking piss with the Naki boys in Wellys at the DownTown Local and giving the Hawkes Bay boys shit, the banter is great and I've made some great friends this way. This is why I love Taranaki and god i hope we beat Manawatu i dont think i could face the Manawatu boys if we lost."
Week 4 - Andrea Cameron - Proudly Backing
NORTHLAND, The underdogs of the Air NZ Cup who play with heart every game, half time entertainment of people running around a pole, taking off their clothes and trying to kick a ball, queing for ages because your kids need to go to the toilet and hearing the roar from under the grandstand and the mad bin guy trying to get everyone to chant Northland at the same time, hurling abuse, running commentries of the crowd around, Taniwha the best mascot who can dance and often is more entertaining than the rugby! Taking the family, dressing up warm huddling under a tarpaulin, making banners and eating hot chips, coming home late and the kids seeing their idols up close...
